Description

Light: Place the fern in bright, indirect light, such as a north- or east-facing window. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the delicate leaves and turn the furry rhizomes brown.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry (typically every 7 to 10 days indoors), and make sure the pot drains well so the plant doesn't sit in standing water. Reduce watering slightly during the winter semi-dormant period.
Rhizomes (Crucial Rule): Never bury the fuzzy rhizomes completely under the soil. They are surface roots and will rot if covered. Let them crawl along the top of the potting mix or cascade down the sides of a hanging basket.
Humidity & Temperature: Aim for indoor temperatures between 65°F and 75°F. While more forgiving than other ferns, it appreciates humidity levels above 50%. You can boost moisture by using a pebble tray, a room humidifier, or placing it near a humid kitchen or bathroom.
Soil & Potting: Use a rich, loose, peat-based potting mix with good drainage (such as a mix of standard soil, peat, and orchid bark or perlite). Shallow pots or hanging baskets work best.
Fertilizer: Feed with a half-strength, balanced liquid fertilizer every 2 to 3 weeks during the active growing season (spring through fall). Stop fertilizing in the winter
